How Their Kitchen Wasn’t Fulfilling Their Needs
Four things were failing at the same time:
- The dark, dated cabinetry absorbed light and made the kitchen feel cramped and unwelcoming.
- There was not enough lighting, so the space felt dim even during the day.

How the Layout Was Designed Around a Busy Household
The design started with how the family used the room.
Our in-home discovery meeting documented how they used their kitchen day to day, their pain points with the current layout, their appliance needs and storage demands, and their traffic flow and family routines.
The meeting included Michelle, our interior designer, and Michael, our architectural engineer, both of who helped them figure out exactly what they needed from their new kitchen:
- Reconfigured cabinetry to maximize storage, with deep drawer banks for cookware and daily essentials.
- An expanded countertop so all 3 kids could sit and eat together or work on homework.
- Recessed and pendant fixtures to eliminate the dark spots.
- A built-in beverage fridge to keep drinks and water bottles cold and within reach.
We didn’t create a kitchen remodeling plan and then dive into the installation.
Before the demo, selections were approved against a 3D rendering, and all measurements were re-verified. The materials were ordered, received, inspected, and staged on-site, and every trade slot was locked.
